Just in the first day of being operative, Sea Punk I supports more than 100 people in distress at sea

Yesterday, our crew found a fiberglass boat with 85 people on board. They assessed and stabilised the situation, until the Italian Coast guards arrived and embarked all people in need. All of the survivors are in Lampedusa now.

Right after, our crew got informed of another potential distress case. The crew followed up and soon spotted 22 people on a fiberglass boat. Once again our crew stabilized the case and the Italian Coast Guard came to bring all survivors to Lampedusa.

Currently, the Sea Punk I is patrolling again. Any donation helps us to save lives.

Within less than 24 hours present and operational in the Search and Rescue area in the Central Mediterranean, our crew of the Sea Punk I assisted already two distress cases. This shows again what is absolutely not news: people are on the move everyday trying to cross Europe’s deadliest border – and as long as there is now legal ways for them to seek asylum (rightfully) and refugee and as long as there is no state run sea rescue programme, it is up to the civil fleet to be present and try as much as possible to prevent worse.
